Pick of the Day: 1951 Ford F1 Pickup

It has been over 75 years since the beloved F-Series pickup entered the marketplace in 1948. Ford came right out of the gate with some home runs: Ford trucks were so popular, in fact, that the company needed 16 assembly plants across North America to crank them out in order to meet customer demand.

The Pick of the Day is a custom 1951 Ford F1 pickup listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Springdale, Arkansas. (Click the link to view the listing)

“I’ve really enjoyed taking this one to shows,” the listing says. Although the truck has reportedly received several first-place awards, the seller says it is time for a new project. If you’ve ever been a fan of the first-generation F-Series, you’re in luck, because this turn-key restomod could be yours.

The truck’s “Legend Lime” exterior has a smooth stance, and the Chevrolet SSR-derived side mirrors make the truck look streamlined and modern. One of the unique aspects to the exterior is its custom grille: Ford enthusiasts will notice that the front end has had two “teeth” added to it. Staggered 17-inch front and 18-inch rear Boyd Coddington wheels provide footwork, and oak planks line the floor of the bed. All in all, it’s a well-thought-out truck with sharp attention to detail from every angle.

Looking inside the cab, we find a nicely executed blend of old and new. The truck’s original bench seat has been replaced by a pair of modern high-back buckets, and a convenient fold-down center console resides between them. In addition to niceties like power steering and air conditioning, the truck has a rockin’ audio system. Controls are managed via a Kenwood seven-inch LCD touchscreen, and components from Pioneer, Polk Audio, and JL Audio work together to optimize the listening experience. What road trip soundtrack would you sample?

Power comes from a 350cid small-block V8 with a long list of goodies. Included on it are an Edelbrock intake with a 600cfm carburetor, Summit ceramic-coated headers, a ZOOPS serpentine belt system, a three-row radiator from US Radiator with an electric fan, a Painless 18-circuit wiring harness, and an Optima deep-cycle battery. An NVH 1500 five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

Does this lime-colored pickup catch your eye like it did mine? The asking price is $30,000 or best offer, and the truck will come with build documentation such as parts booklets and receipts.
